# The SQK token

> SQK is the ERC-20 token issued by completed Squeek blocks, with a 10% premine for liquidity and a fixed lifetime cap.

## TL;DR

- SQK is an ERC-20 token. Apart from a 10% premine for liquidity, it's issued only through completed Squeek blocks.
- Supply starts at the 210 million SQK premine and is capped at 2.1 billion SQK.
- Claimed SQK is an ordinary wallet balance you can hold or transfer independently of any Squeek.

## What's SQK?

SQK is the token the hamster's work produces. Apart from the premine, minted once at launch to the Hamster-Owned Liquidity, `SqueekMining` is the only address that can mint it, and its code mints SQK only as checkpoints process completed Squeek blocks.

Once claimed, SQK is a standard ERC-20 balance in your wallet. You can hold it, transfer it, or use it in other applications, separately from the Squeek that earned it.

The Sepolia testnet token has no premine, and its `SqueekMining` issues 5,600 SQK per block.

## Supply over time

Supply starts at the premine, grows as Squeek blocks are processed, 6,900 SQK per completed block, and stops growing at the cap. Unclaimed rewards are already-minted SQK held by `SqueekMining` until owners claim them, so total supply counts issued SQK whether or not it has been claimed.
